Mary Banning: The Fungi of Maryland Watercolors
The NYSM Collections house over 200 of Mary Elizabeth Banning’s original watercolors, including 175 from the bound manuscript “The Fungi of Maryland.” In 1890, Banning gifted her entire known work to her mentor in mycology (the study of fungi), the New York State Botanist Charles Peck.
