National Historic Marker Day is now National Historic Marker Weekend! Bring your kids! Your grandkids! Your friends! Bring a date! Celebrate local history while giving back to your community during National Historic Marker Weekend, Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27.
People everywhere enjoy historical markers, from roadsides and parks to historic sites or even their own neighborhoods. According to The Historical Marker Database, there’s more than 210,000 markers in the United States, but many have not received cleaning or care for years. National Historic Marker Weekend is the answer! Our service-oriented celebration brings people and communities together to learn about local history while cleaning markers.
Created by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, this fun and family-friendly celebration kicks off on the last Friday of every April. The fifth annual marker day event kick off on Friday, April 25 with celebrations, fun and volunteering throughout the weekend.
