Congraulations to all of the participants and winners of the 2018 New York State History Day contests! After a series of exciting regional contests throughout the spring, nearly 500 student winners gathered in Cooperstown along with their parents and teachers to take part in the statewide competition. We were welcomed to Cooperstown by beautiful weather and greeted by some amazing projects. It was difficult for the judges to choose the best out of so many fantastic entries, but the process was enlightening, encouraging, and fun! As State Historian, I am honored to take part in History Day both at the Capital Region level and at the statewide event and heartened to see so many brilliant young people interested in producing top notch history. They are history's future!
