| Abstract | Archaeological excavations at the Schoharie Creek II site in Schoharie County, New York were conducted by the New York State Museum's Cultural Resource Survey Program as part of a federally funded bridge replacement project. Stratified deposits produced artifacts dating to the Middle Woodland Period (circa A.D. 100-A.D. 900). The data derived during this excavation provide insights into the settlement and land use practices of these prehistoric populations, and their interaction with other groups in eastern New York. This information is important to understanding the prehistory of the Schoharie Valley and eastern New York. |
