Abstract | Neotropical collections originally identified as Dasyscyphus inspersus (Berk. & Curt.) Sacc. were re-examined and found to represent two distinct species. One matches the type specimen of D. inspersus, the other matches the type of D. earoleuca (Berk. & Br.) Sacc., which has been treated as a synonym. As these species are neither congeneric with the types of Dasyscyphus, Lachnum, nor with the types of any Hyaloscyphaceous genera known to the authors, a new genus is proposed in the tribe Polydesmieae Korf.
